Events in this group

Going to a different event in Kansas City that weekend? You can still join this group.

Hotels for this weekend

Hotels for this event are booked through Team Travel Source (TTS). Teams within 65 miles are considered local and are exempt from the hotel requirement. Teams are accepted once they register on AES with payment and reserve rooms through TTS. Families must follow the event's housing rules, so PlumJar is not lining up hotel deals for this weekend. Please follow your event's hotel rules. This group goes after restaurant and ride deals.

Team meal options for Kansas City

We're lining up team meal options near the venue so you can focus on the games. Nothing is confirmed yet. When an option is confirmed, it will show the style, price, group size, when to book and who to contact. Teams book and pay the restaurant directly. The PlumJar service is free for families.

Tell us your team's needs once

Tell us what your team wants (cuisine, style, budget, area, even a specific restaurant) and we'll look for it. Fill this in once, early: the more time we have, the more restaurants we can line up. When you're ready to eat, one click or text and we'll call around and send you what's available. Nothing is booked until you confirm with the restaurant.

Which nights?
When?
What style works?

This saves your team's needs; it isn't a booking. We check availability with restaurants and you confirm directly with them.

ASICS KC MLK Tournament 2027: weekend questions

When and where is the 2027 ASICS Kansas City MLK Tournament?

It runs Saturday Jan 16 to Monday Jan 18, 2027 (MLK weekend) at the Kansas City Convention Center (Bartle Hall, Municipal Arena and Exhibition Hall), 301 W 13th St, plus Hy-Vee Arena and Hale Arena. It is run by Heart of America Volleyball.

Is the KC MLK Tournament a National Qualifier?

Yes for girls 18s. The KC MLK Girls 18s National Qualifier offers bids in 18 Open (2), 18 USA (2), 18 Liberty (3) and 18 American (1). Girls 11–17 Club and boys 12–18 divisions are non-qualifying.

Is the KC MLK Tournament stay-to-play?

Yes. Hotels are booked through Team Travel Source (TTS). Teams within 65 miles are considered local and exempt from the hotel requirement. Families must follow the event's housing rules, so book through your club's TTS block.

Can PlumJar get us a hotel deal for the KC MLK Tournament?

No. Because the event requires hotels through Team Travel Source, PlumJar is not lining up hotel deals for this weekend. We're lining up team meal options instead.

What are the session times at the KC MLK Tournament?

Heart of America says the AM wave runs 8 AM to 2:30 PM and the PM wave 2:30 PM to 10 PM. Schedules are posted to AES the week of the tournament.

Where do we park for Bartle Hall, Hy-Vee Arena and Hale Arena?

For Bartle Hall, Municipal Arena and Exhibition Hall, use downtown Kansas City garages. Hy-Vee Arena and Hale Arena share city-owned lots that may charge for parking, cash only.

Which airport is closest to Bartle Hall?

Kansas City International (MCI) is about 20 miles north of downtown, usually a 25–35 minute drive.

Is PlumJar part of Heart of America Volleyball?

No. PlumJar is independent, not affiliated with or endorsed by Heart of America Volleyball, ASICS, Team Travel Source or the venues. The PlumJar service is free for families; you book and pay any hotel or restaurant directly.

Questions

Why do I need to activate my sign-up?

So we know the email really belongs to you and every family in a group is real. After you save your spot, open the activation link we email you from [email protected]. Your spot counts once it's activated.

Does it cost anything?

No. Joining is free, and so is using your discount code. You pay the hotel, restaurant or ride company directly, at the group price.

How do I use the discount?

When your weekend group opens, we email your family's PlumJar code and the list of deals. When you book or pay, give the business your code and the email you signed up with. They check it and apply the group price. For hotels, your pass includes the hotel's group booking link.

Do we have to travel with the group?

No. The group only exists to get better prices. You choose your own hotel, flights and plans, and book just for your family or together with your team.

Is the discount guaranteed?

No. Discounts depend on what local businesses agree to for each weekend, and they can change. You'll see every deal and its terms before you use your code, and you never have to use one.

Do you book for me?

No. You book and pay the business directly, so you stay in control of your plans. We find the deals and give you the code.

My event makes us book through its own hotel list.

Some events require families to stay in their hotel block ("stay to play"). If yours does, we'll tell you, and still help with restaurants, rides, travel and the rest of the weekend.

Why group families from different events?

A hotel cares about how many rooms you fill, not which event you came for. Pooling every family in town that weekend makes a much bigger group than one team alone.

Who handles my request?

PlumJar runs on AI assistants that research options and contact hotels, restaurants and ride services for your group. You see every deal and its terms before you use your code.
